My Friday morning Bible study has been reading the book "
Radical: Taking back your faith from the American Dream" by David Platt and it is one of the best, most challenging books I have read in a while. Anyway, I just wanted to share a bit of what he says with you since I think it applies to what we are trying to do as a club:
First, according to Jesus, disciple making involves going. It involves intentionally taking the gospel to people where they live, work and play. Disciple making is not a call for others to come to us to hear the gospel but a command for us to go to others to share the gospel. A command for us to be gospel-living, gospel-speaking people at every moment and in every context where we find ourselves
...
To hear about people's lives, their circumstances, their histories, their families, their dreams, and their struggles. And to share our own histories, families, dreams, and struggles with them
...
Disciple making is not about a program or an event but about a relationship.
If anyone else has read this book, I would love to hear your take on it. This is a book I would encourage us all to read, process and think about and would be happy to share my copy when I am done with it.
